Hugmot was established in 1987. The name "Hugmót" is a coined word,
implying the meaning "Software moulding", "Soft Creation"
or even "Mind forming".
Accordingly, our purpose is to provide software and
advertising services to our customers, both domestic and abroad.
We also develop software specific to the Icelandic market.
Internet Services
Early in 1995 we started using the Internet, at first for e-mail and newsgroups.
Later, we started surfing the World Wide Web, becoming utterly fascinated with
this new medium. Within a short time, we began creating our own web presence,
gaining experience in web design along the way.
Now we are eager to share our expertise with you, by providing various Web-related services like
Global Marketing on the Web,
Web Presence for Cool Companies,
Home Page Design and specialised programming for
Database Publishing on the Web.
Software Development
Our first PC product, the Icelandic hyphenation program Saxa, was released in 1989.
It offers the best quality available in such programs, rendering about 99%
correct hyphenations. Presently it is being used by various print shops and
publishing companies in our country.
We have participated and been involved in many software projects, including:
- Cashier System and Foreign Currency System
for the National Bank of Iceland, in co-operation with IBM Iceland
- Financial Management Program for farmers, called Búbót,
for the Icelandic Farmers Association. Now in use for over 1.000 farms.
- Car Inventory System for new and second-hand cars
for Ræsir, the Mercedes-Benz and Mazda dealer in Iceland.
- Translation and adaptation of the Daimler-Benz IDIS program for Ræsir.
It handles spare parts, workshop and guarantee operations of the company.
Other services
We provide the Icelandic Classifieds Web,
the first and only one of its kind. Here you can reach Icelandic WWW surfers
(currently about 6.000 in number and growing rapidly), in a very cost efficient way.
Programming languages
Our staff includes seasoned programmers, having more than 30 years of combined
programming experience.
Mostly we use Borland Pascal and C++ for DOS/Windows, but we also program
in Delphi, Basic, Assembler, RPGII and various script languages.
Paradox is our favorite database program.
Our team
Currently there are 4 members in our team; 1 programmer and 3 assistants.
We cooperate with graphic designers, photographers and specialists
of the English language, so we can offer you all web presence services in one place.
Occasionally we hire subcontractors or additional staff for temporary assignments.
